Client: Bedminster Town Team

Location: Bedminster shopping centre, Bristol

Bedminster town team is a business-led partnership whose purpose is to improve trading conditions in Bedminster town centre looking at physical changes in the retail streets including greening, parking and signage. We were approached to put forward planting and maintenance proposals for a number of large wooden planters that were sited throughout the retail area. We had a limited budget and some challenges around how the space was used and perceived. Initially working with donated plants we have come to learn which plants are robust enough to survive and thrive and bring some much-needed greenery and colour to the retail environment. The most rewarding part of the job is getting such positive feedback and encouragement from the local people that use the shopping centre.

We are currently working on proposals for further greening opportunities within the Bedminster retail zone.
